One of the reasons I follow American politics is that the erosion of democracy we see happening there, is seeping into our own country by a process of ideological osmosis - the innocuous sounding, but dangerous, Regulatory Standards Bill being a good example.
So, understanding what is happening in America is important to understanding what we can do to protect democracy in our own country.
Dr Eric Repphun is offering an 8 week course on the community education site Dark Times Academy starting June 14th entitled Unmasking Theocracy, Project 2025 and the Christian Nationalist Agenda.
As someone who is also interested in the Sociology of Religion as well US politics, the title intigued me so I gave him a call.
He says that ''conservative religious and political forces have been working patiently for decades to impose their beliefs on the world, and with Donald Trump embracing Project 2025 victory seems within reach.”
Over the 8 weeks Dr Repphun says course members “will learn what Christian nationalism is, where it comes from, what it means for the world, and what we can do to fight back. “
