How our Government is Fast-Tracking a Canadian Mining Company's plans to dig a motorway sized tunnel under a native forest. (Duration 6 mins) 10/6/2025
And when you think of their intended projects, like mining in beautiful Otago, the Denniston plateau, Various West Coast disasters, Sam's Creek in Golden Bay, bottom dredging for sand in Taranaki, gold in the Coromandel, fishing in the Hauraki Gulf, various unwanted greenfield developments etc etc..... Honestly, you wonder of the sanity of those coalition politicians, wrecking our country for future generations. 😱😣😱 It's beyond disbelief how human beings can even contemplate these kind of projects...
I totally take your point Bryan. Am I correct in assuming that under the present law the concerns of the people you interviewed would be thoroughly examined in the resource consent process? Am I also correct that in the event of the RSB being invoked that would not be the case and it would become environmentally and socially a case of "wait and see" after the application is approved and executed. This legislation is being presented for consideration by a minority party who talk about legislation being "evidence based" is it not?
It is appalling that the representatives of the people of Aotearoa and supposedly the caretakers of it's environment could sell us and the environment for a 'handful of coins' while the majority of profits are taken offshore. I thought this sorry, and environmentally destructive types of mining only happened in much poorer countries where officials could be bribed. Sadly I am obviously wrong. Shame on you Minister Potaka, Jones and this entire disgraceful government.
corporations will run this country and with no treaty to block potential damage. We were waiting for this and now it's on our doorstep. We all have to take responsibility so don't be shocked with my 'Kill the Bill' stance everyone. Aroha mai, even Maori lands are in their sites- the Ture whenua act 1993 is in for changes that fits 'hand in glove' with the RSB.
So much potential damage, Bryan. To the bush, to the land, to the economy and to democracy. I’m shocked and dismayed.

We’re selling our souls for a handful of silver, and without even an apology……
