Welcome to my podcast for the 1st of June 2024
Last Thursday Finance Minister Nicola Willis delivered her first budget and on Friday The Child Poverty Action Group held their public analysis meeting as they have done for many years now.
I always try to get to their budget event or tune into their live You tube broadcast because they give a voice to the most vulnerable people in our society – children, students, solo parents and people with a disability.
Because people were generous with giving interviews this report is in 2 parts
Today you’ll hear some sobering analysis from 3 big picture commentators.
Economists Associate Professor Susan St John and Bernard Hickey, along with Barrister and Writer Max Harris
In Part 2 ,which I should have up tomorrow, ,you will hear from some of those attending who are personally impacted by static benefits and the cut back in services.
