Couldn't agree more. I'd just read Seymour's vicious little piece of Trumpism before I got your post and started to seethe with anger. He is inciting division and hatred - standard far-right tactics. Blame those who have the least for the problems those who have the most have created. Vile stuff. And the tired old 'cure' of privatisation is all he can come up with as a solution. He seems to have failed to notice the damage that's been doing for the last 40 years. The ACT party in general is characterised by a total lack of empathy. I had regularly joked in the past that Seymour wasn't actually human. I'm beginning to be convinced of it, and his self-serving, callous fellow MPs are equally worrying.

He's often compared (in appearance and manner) to Red Dwarf's Arnold Rimmer but he has more empathy than David Seymour; remarkable given the former is a fictional hologram.

Judy you are so right! I couldn’t have worded a response better than yours, so thank you for expressing my thoughts as well as yours – what a nasty fellow Seymour is!! Our country will be far worse off, Should he be enabled to have total power!

Thank you for give voice to my and I hope many others' righteous anger. And your compelling argument about equality meaning that we should ALL have equal access to the things that a decent society provides is one that I shall tuck away for my own use later. I hope that you don't mind. 🙂

I am concerned that NZ is often complacent in the face of so much destruction of good values and sense, and the pilfering from our children's future. Surely people must want to just heave this lot out, and now?

I agree NZer's are often too complacent and reserved. We need to advocate for ourselves and our mokopuna before its done and dusted!

Some people are born nasty and selfish, some achieve nastiness and selfishness, and others have selfish nastiness thrust upon them - Seymour has been dealt the trifecta. I used to think he was just An Atlas foot soldier, starting to realise he is genuinely evil…

People in Dunedin took to the streets over the Southern Hospital fiasco, people (not only Māori) took to the streets over the Treaty Principles nonsense. But NACT ain't seen nothing yet if they try to privatise health care

I think they have have already begun the first steps of privatization, they aren't just trying, they are already doing! I think we need to act now

Already 2/3 along the way to privatisation of health care according to Dr Gary Parvinder.

More than disturbing also yesterday was when Seymour was being interviewed after his Moment in the Spotlight, and he was asked about Housing, more-so Community Housing... and his response was "If I was King for a Day" implying that there would be none. Every NZ Rental in David's World would fall under Private ownership. Very, very dangerous man/end of.

Does Wee Mental Davey think that we have no idea how utterly corrupt and dysfunctional the American health system is and that we should want to slide in that cesspit

The many who listen to his speech with only a half ear will hear him compare his vision of privatising our health system with Switzerlands approach. What deceit to compare his profit driven morals to Switzerland . That’s pure spin to get us to dis connect his efforts from the obvious disastrous American Health System. And the comments about would you rather have $6000 to buy your own health care etc? Anyone who is in survival mode (many many of us) will only hear the give me $6000. Pure manipulation. Disgusting. What can we do to get rid of them and please please may there be a good alternative.

Absolutely. It is difficult to properly comprehend that there are people who would be perfectly happy to see many more homeless beggars in our streets, more children suffering diseases caused by poverty, just as long as it meant that they could be wealthy.

Its a mystery to me that there are people who, when the worst of Neo Liberalism is wreaking havoc somehow don't have a massive flashing 'ERROR' sign constantly going off in their heads.

Imo,we & every last country in the world should be teaching empathy to all children during their school years. While that will not solve all our problems it would at least mean more future chances of a fairer society

because it won't ever happen to them (or so they believe) Empathy is to me the cornerstone of a civilized society.

“We need to see through Seymour’s cheshire grin to see how his lips are operated by a set of ideological wires connected to the dark control box of the Atlas Network, if we want to create a fairer Aotearoa/New Zealand and preserve our environment for our children, our grandchildren and all future generations.”

Love it. Such an accurate and important quote.

We've been on this downward track for a long time people have been paying for their own health care when their desperate by hook or by crooky own personal experience was get another mortgage or live in some kind of terrifying limbo. So it's slowly & surely gone down this track.None of our governments have ever funded health enough or figured out a way to fund it in a more sustainable way you only have to look at a few other successfull countries to get some ideas. Same with education too many children to each teacher when education should be at the top of the list to help people make good decisions.Seymour just a nasty stupid man with only his ambition in his mind .

Seymour has said that if the govt is not getting value from an asset, we should consider selling it. Depends how he defines value and you can bet he doesn't include any social values.

This man is evil and callous. He has way more influence than he should with 8% of the vote.

Don't people realise that insurance companies (including health insurance) are there to make a profit? They only cover surgery and travel. So, if you have pneumonia, diabetes, heart disease or cancer or any other medical condition, your out of luck.

I'm particularly offended by his statement that said the government owned all these 'assets' that are not turning a profit. They belong to we, the people.

Almost wish he would get sick so he can appreciate our health system first hand as I did last year. 12 hour wait in ED. Lovely doctors and nurses but not enough of them.

What a sad sort of a young guy Seymour is, wasting his life on some flawed ideology.... Unleash (favourite current word) him and he will be a potential dictator....

Power, money and fame! 😢
