Great challenge to economists and their simplistic models here. Thanks Mike and Bryan. Needs to be widely viewed.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I also learnt heaps. It was only a few years ago it struck me that I had never considered the power that any domestic appliance used, prior to purchasing it. A purchase was mainly made on the cost, as we do, that paying a bit more for the power didn’t really enter the equation. Then I became educated. It dumbfounds us how much electricity our oven consumes. Husband has a monitor on computer before him which tells you how much solar is being produced or used and all of a sudden he bellows ‘what do we have on that’s chewing up the power?’ The oven is one which has surprised me. This gentleman has helped me look deeper at various matters and great ways of explaining the process’ etc. I would love to have the interview in transcript to study at my will. Maybe spread the word. Will see if I get to it. Thanks so much.

Great conversation, thanks Bryan and Mike. The simple life of 1959 is covered extensively and well understood by Nate Hagens. He has a substack (The Great Simplification) with links to his videos.

A wonderful interview. Thank you Bryan. Mike Joy is so easy to communicate with and he's a fountain of knowledge. It's good to be reminded of people who live their energy rich life simply because they don't know any different. We need to educate our youngsters how we can live life differently. Unfortunately the recent "back to basics" model of education overhaul doesn't incorporate the issues you discussed. Our hope lies with the youngsters and us older folks who are aware of burning issues. Roll on another very large protest march as well as a landmarch in memory of Whina Cooper. Maybe it will make people think?????

It is crazy to think that these conversations should be out there in the public media, so much nonsense and gossip where real educational programmes should be. I would love to reduce driving but having non exisiting public transport makes that really hard. If we have to rely on youth and indigenous people to lead the way let us support them wholeheartedly. Every small change helps, but the seeds I am trying to sow may need propagate in my life time.
