A couple of days ago I read a very interesting Substack article about a piece of trojan horse, David Seymour, legislation currently before parliament that had managed to slip completely under my radar and perhaps yours too.

Thanks for this Bryan. I have read (and am following) Melanie's substack but it's a complex subject I'm struggling to understand and I wonder if there's a way to break it down or simplify so that a group of people wider than academics working in the field can make submissions.
The people who squawked about freedom and voted for this self centred lot will no doubt be the first to squawk when a slaughterhouse sets up next door.
Thanks heaps. i did it, maybe right in wrong places ,but put my bob's worth in. This isn't about regulations. I feel it is about controlling and isolating smaller groups.
Will it ever stop? No sooner we get one submission entered another gruesome idea is hatched by the COCβs. Each of the three-headed Cerberus, without doubt, has his own dark men in the shadows concocting schemes to regulate and deliver their prescription for ghastly backward changes affecting our lives. Thanks to Melanie and Bryan for bringing this to our attention. A bit of work ahead.

At dawn in bed I forwarded this recording on Substack and Instagram to every journalist and activist I have contact with. (Wonderful David Farrier responded promptly. He is very good at mobilizing interest in controversial issues.)
I see that the MΔori party today posted on Instagram with a link to Melanieβs article.
I agree with earlier statements that a simplified version of the issues would aid in faciliating enmasse dissent necessary to effectively undermine this bill.

Hi Alan, I agree the language can be complex. I will have a chat with Melanie to see if we can formulate a plain language template.
