Wow I’m glad I went into my scam box and found a couple of your substacks. Heaven knows why, they don’t all go there. You are both great NZ’s. I look forward to receiving your action sheet and being active in my area. So over this COG. Brilliant suggestions.
I would like to add that when you end up losing doctors and nurses to the private sector that makes profit and cherry picks the easy stuff. When you have these people woking in the public system, they become more competent by working on complex cases. It is an important part of training within the system as they learn on the job alongside colleagues who teach them through the process of doing. It's something we had and still do for many in the public system that honestly helps to produce doctors and nurses that become truly excellent and highly skilled and more broadly skilled. It's and enviable way to train people. We cant afford to lose this either. Or let Doctors be even partly trained in the private sector something govt also want to do and have been floating. You're asking for huge trouble.
The irony too is that when the private sector cherry picks and things don't go as well as planned and complexities arise it is dangerous for the patient. They get sent as fast as possible to the public system as extreme acute emergencies for public doctors to fix. That delay also increases the risks of outcomes because when complications arise when being looked after in public they deal with these complexities faster.
We will be training so many doctors in public to go to the private sector. It's just nasty. As Bryan says who does this all benefit.
We are going to lose a public health system that can be so brilliant for us all if we don't get active about this, get it back but also get it well funded.
Gary is so right about the protesting and driving the govt nuts and also on scale. This govt is implementing fiscal violence towards all of us. I Learned something new about how to write to MPs too from both of you.
So true Bryan it is a moral choice. I hate neoliberal bullshittery. They are as Gary mentions destabilising deliberately so they can defund more and then say privatising is better. It's the massive con people fall for.

So informative! Thank you both SO much! We MUST protest!! By the thousands!!
These are some really good call to action tips, Gents! Thank you
Dr Payinda is brilliant. Absolutely factual!

Thanks so much Bryan and Gary!
The reality is he’ll likely spend two years on an elective waiting list. Why? Because this government is not interested in public health provisions
