This very clever cartoon by Emmerson in the NZ Herald brilliantly captures the arrogance of the Coalition Government.

Not surprisingly this week’s news round up is dominated again by last week’s Budget and measures that will increase the gap between the haves and have nots in our country.

Items that particularly caught my eye were:

That Willis is going to borrow $12 billion and pretending it’s not to pay for tax cuts.

That only 3000 households will get the full $250 a fortnight tax cut when the election promise talked about the “average“ family getting that amount.

The failure to deliver cancer drugs as promised. For God’s sake! take some of the $2.9 billion you’re giving to landlords which will only push the cost of housing up as they buy up low end of the market properties.

How the money from tax cuts will be gobbled up by paying for extra fees and services.

How Māori are uniting in their opposition to the Coalition Government.

How the policy of making life tougher for students is a betrayal of the next generation.

Charging for prescriptions again is just stupid. Prevention is far less expensive than hospital care.

Uuuurghhh!

Anyway here’s the Sunday News round up. Thanks again to Sue Pugmire for her collation help.
