A couple of years ago I interviewed Ben Purua who, at the age of 16, was a member of teenage gang that beat up 74 year old Donald Stewart one night in Hamilton back in 2010, and left him to die.
Fifteen years later Ben has turned his life around. He’s a dairy farmer, a family man, the winner of The Ahuwhenua Young Māori Farmer of the Year and a finalist in the Kiwibank Young New Zealander of the year.
