Today I’m doing something I have never done before - repeat a Monday Hope post, because I am supporting two important ones, that if you have not already done so, I hope you will help become a reality.
The first is to submit an objection by 1pm today to David Seyour’s dull sounding but incredibly dangerous Regulatory Standards Bill which puts private rights above the public good, will Americanize our rule of law, and give enormous power to Big Money and Big Corporations to punder our environment and further exploit our people.
I urge you to take a couple of minutes make a submission to the the Select Committee before,as I say, they close at 1pm today.
Here is the link.
If you need reasons please check out my interview with Greens Co-Leader Marama Davidson.
or my Long Read on Sunday 15th of June
My second hope is that independent feature film makers April Phillips and Isaac Lee can reach their target of $15,000 so they can finish post production of their quintessentual Kiwi film 1978 and have it screen in cinemas up and down the country.
As I write their Crowd Funding page has raised $12,200 which is 81% towards their target.
There is just 3 days left to contribute.
If they don’t get to $15,000, they get nothing,
So if you haven’t already chipped in something please consider helping them out by going to their Boosted page. Here is the link to click on

If you HAVE already contributed - thank you!
PS I picked today’s photo because it suggests to me that together we can push through these hard times, created by the current right- wing coalition government, and reclaim the future for our whanau and those who come after us.
I have made today’s post free for everyone to read, however many of my premium posts are behind a paywall because I am only able to continue my public journalism thanks to the generosity of my paid subscribers. If you are receiving this post for free, please consider supporting my work by upgrading to paid status.
$9 a month (less than a cup of coffee each week) will not only give you access to my documentaries and premium posts, you will also get to join a group of New Zealanders in our chat room who comment on posts and discuss the issues that are important to all us who want to live in a fairer, more democratic society.
All subscriptions go to meet production costs.
Great post for the first morning of this Southern Hemisphere's New Year, Bryan. It is just past 5 A.M. and it has already made the rest of my day look hopeful, especially getting to view your informative and inspiring interview with Marama Davidson.
Done! Submitted just before closing
